Supervisor Fire and Rescue
An exciting vacancy exists at O.R. Tambo International Airport for an experienced Supervisor Fire and Rescue within the Airport Management Division.
Key Performance Outputs
The successful candidate, reporting to the Assistant Manager Fire and Rescue, will be responsible for the following:
  • Implement NOTAM to notify pilots of potential hazards and/or maintenance.
  • Monitor adherence to Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Adherence and revision of relevant statutory / legislative regulations, SOPs, operational standards, ACSA policies and procedures, SLA to ensure business continuity.
  • Provide input in terms of conditions and content of contracts.
  • Ensure efficient contract management and escalate non-compliances.
  • Conduct simulations to satisfy and enhance state of readiness.
  • Ensure effectiveness of response with regards to resources and speed in with resources are brought into operation during emergencies, in line with ICAO standards and recommendations.
  • Input into allocated budget.
  • Compile shift rosters and manage time keeping of employees.
  • Participate in people development initiatives.
  • Plan, schedule and supervise and/or coordinate activities within processes to achieve efficiency.
  • Analysis of current systems and improvement thereof where required.
  • Implementation of cost saving initiatives.
  • Conduct internal self-audits (MOP).
  • Implementation of remedial action plans.
  • Participation in monthly risk assessments.
  • Monitor, identify, mitigate and report areas of non-compliance (HIRA).
  • Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal as well as external relationships.

    Technical Skills and Experience

    The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:

  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and relevant Higher Certificate is essential.
  • Fire Fighter 3 essential.
  • Relevant Diploma is recommended.
  • A valid Code EC Heavy vehicle license or Code C.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • 3 years Fire and Rescue operational experience essential.
  • 1 year Fire and Rescue supervisory experience is recommended.
  • Detailed knowledge of Airside, Landside and Terminal Operations.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, statutory requirements and SOPs.

    Competencies

    The ideal candidate must be diplomatic, achiever, communicates well verbally, be detail orientated and acts in line with dominant values of the organization. The person must be able to manage conflict, plans work and demonstrate good problem- solving skills.
